Judging Covers at the Cosmo Blog Awards!

Cosmopolitan Blog Awards 2011

Wow. This time last week I was rummaging in my wardrobe panicking about what to wear to the Cosmopolitan Blog Awards! How time flies. Still, better late than never is my philosophy…

Last week, on Wednesday night, I headed to Oxford Circus with Rachel to represent Judging Covers at the Cosmo Blog Awards 2011. We were up for an award in the ‘Lifestyle’ category. Although we didn’t win, we were so proud to be nominated, and the evening was a real treat!

Never one to be fashionably late I suggested we meet early to compensate for inevitably getting lost, but in fact we were the first ones there! Never mind. Before too long a flurry of fabulous outfits and precariously high heels started flooding through the doors, to sample the delights on offer from Cosmo before the serious business of the awards.

The lovely folk at Benefit had a makeup stall for any touch ups required. If only I’d known I wouldn’t have spent my time putting my face on in the dingy toilets at work! Nail Porn were also on hand with an array of nail polishes, while Stylist Pick were giving away a free pair of shoes every half hour!

For any among the partygoers who weren’t that bothered about getting pampered there was also the pretty amazing cupcakes, and Cosmopolitan cocktails galore. (Do you see what they did there?)

When it came down to the awards themselves the excitement was palpable, and each winner was met with cheers and screams of delight. Although Judging Covers did not win in its category, it was great to be nominated before we are even one year old! Thanks to everyone for your votes and support, and thanks to Cosmo for putting on such a great evening. It was great to see a range of blogs and interests represented, and to meet some lovely new people. And of course, I’m not going to sniff at a free bar!

Sarah lives with her cat and her husband (note the order) in Milton Keynes, where she works for a charity, and studies with the OU. Any spare time she has will inevitably be spent with her nose in a book, usually with a big mug of tea on the go. One day she’ll write a best-selling Young Adult novel and move to a charming country cottage, but until then she’ll just keep reading.
